Minister for Industries, Sports and Youth Affairs E P Jayarajan will inaugurate an awareness workshop on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and its implications for Kerala’s Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (M
The day-long workshop, to be held at the Symphony Hall, Mascot Hotel, is being organised by the Department of Industries & Commerce in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
The GST, which will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Centre and states, is scheduled to be implemented across the country from April 1, 2017. The Constitution Amendment Bill for GST was approved by the President of India, following its passage in the Parliament (Rajya Sabha on August 3 and Lok Sabha on August 8. It now needs to be ratified by more than 50 per cent of the state legislatures.
Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Paul Antony will make the keynote address. The Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax, Pullela Nag
eswara Rao, will deliver a special address. There will also be technical sessions by tax and audit specialists on the issues and concerns on GST transition, the levy and time and place of supply, and preparing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) for GST, among other things.
Also speaking will be Industries & Commerce Director P M Francis, Partner and Head of Tax at KPMG India Girish Vanvari and K-BIP CEO V Rajagopal.
Registration for the workshop beings at 9:30 am and closes at 10 am. The workshop will conclude at 5 pm.
