The 17th Kerala Bamboo Fest Kerala Bamboo Fest 2021, 16 to 20 February has started on virtual platform. For the first time, Kerala Bamboo Fest exhibitions and business meetings are held on virtual platform. Industries Minister, E.P. Jayarajan inaugurated the Kerala Bamboo Fest 2021 through virtual meeting. In his inaugural address the Minister remarked that “diversification and modernization will be implemented in the bamboo and allied production sector. Technical deficiencies in the bamboo production sector will be addressed.” He also assured that Bamboo and allied products will be promoted.
The Minister said that the implementation of skill development training in the field of bamboo production has increased the interest of the public in bamboo production. “Bamboo furniture, jewellery and house building will be promoted. The launch of online sales of bamboo products at Kannur and Kozhikode airports and tourist destinations has increased the sales potential” added the minister.
Dr.K. Ellangovan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Norka while delivering the keynote address said that the “Bamboo Fest would help those working in the field of bamboo products to access global market opportunities and access modern technologies.” Dr. Alka Bhargava, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt of India rendered the Special Address. She said bamboo products should be registered on the central government’s e-marketing portal and the state industry department should take the initiative. While offering felicitations, Deepak L. Aswani, Co-Chair, FICCI Kerala FICCI State Council said that “FICCI is really glad to partner with the Industries Department, Govt. of Kerala and Kerala State Bamboo Mission (KSBM) and Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP) in organising Kerala Bamboo Fest for the first time at the virtual platform”. M.G. Rajamanickam IAS, Director of Industries & Commerce and State Mission Director, NBM rendered the welcome address and R. Ramesh Chandran, Additional Director (Industries & Commerce) offered the vote of thanks.
Office stationery, bamboo blinds, kitchen utensils, decorative items, interior design, bamboo furniture, building materials and bamboo seedlings will be on display at the FICCI Bike Online Platform. The fair will conclude on the 20th. National and international buyers are also participating in the Virtual Kerala Bamboo Fest this time. Buyer-seller meetings are also organized as part of the Exhibition. There will also be B2B and G2B sessions happening on the event days.
