THRISSUR:
Writer and critic Sunil P Elayidom said that justice forms the core method of Anand’s writing, observing that literature itself is shaped by contradictions and differences. He was speaking at a two-day seminar that examined the literary universe of veteran Malayalam writer Anand, held alongside a sculpture exhibition inspired by Anand’s creative legacy. The events are part of the sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale.
Titled Anandinte Rachanalokam (Anand’s Creative World), the seminar is organised under the Biennale’s outreach programme and its thematic series, Art, Time, Conflict. The initiative aims to extend the Biennale’s curatorial conversations beyond Kochi to regions that have played a significant role in shaping India’s modern intellectual and artistic life. The programme is being organised in association with the Peruvanam International Village Festival.
Speaking at the seminar, N Ajayakumar remarked that Anand’s language in his novels often carries the intensity and musicality of poetry. Shaji Jacob also spoke at length on Anand’s literary world, reflecting on the ethical and aesthetic concerns that run through his body of work.
