KOZHIKODE:
Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) will host the first- ever entrepreneur idea fest, called “Live Discovery”, which aims to give an impetus to the innovation- driven ecosystem in the country and nurture potential entrepreneurial ventures.
The event, to be held from December 1 to 3, is open for aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups or technology professionals who are keen to make an impact by solving some specific problems plaguing businesses and society through commercially viable product ideas.
The fest is unique for its duration and format. It is jointly organized by IIMK LIVE, a business incubator and entrepreneurship development centre of IIM Kozhikode and “KEY” accelerator under Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM). Selected participants will get an opportunity to work closely with the industry over a 30-day period to build solutions and prototypes before competing at the final event at the IIMK campus.
The event focuses on developing minimum viable products to solve a specific problem. The problem statements identified by experts are not sector-specific and cover areas like app-request ambulances, public governance – sentimental analysis, environmental protection, insurance as service for the healthcare industry, and drowsiness alert system for drivers, among others.
The participating teams will also be introduced to the concepts of Design Thinking, Business Canvas Model and Value Proposition Design so that the working prototype will have the maximum impact on the stakeholders.
Dr. Saji Gopinath, CEO, Kerala Start-up Mission, said ‘Live Discovery’ is a unique platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase prototypes in the emerging technology areas. “The month-long activity will enable the industry partners to mentor and support entrepreneurial ideas to ensure that they are commercially successful. This event will go a long way to nurture the business and technology acumen of our youngsters to be successful entrepreneurs,” he added.
Prof. Keyoor Purani, Executive Director of IIMKLIVE which is co-hosting the event, said the objective of the event is to provide a new platform for the entrepreneurship development.
