Thiruvananthapuram: Consumerfed, an agency of Kerala state government, will start the online retail sale of liquor. This initiative will begin with Kerala’s Onam Festival season.
There will not be any home delivery. Consumers who make payment online can get the bottle across the counter on producing the cash receipt at the Consumerfed outlet. There will 59 brands for sale online , mostly premium products. An extra amount will be charged for this ‘service’.
The purported goal of this novel scheme is to do help cut short the serpentine queue usually seen at the retail liquor outlets owned by the government agency.
