THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Genrobotics, one of India’s successful startup ventures, has launched India’s First Robotic Assisted Paediatric Gait Trainer for physical rehabilitation of children facing mobility issues with conditions like Cerebral Palsy.
Kerala Minister for Health, Woman and Child Development Veena George launched the G-Gaiter Paediatric at a ceremony held at C-DAC auditorium at the Technopark here yesterday.
She said the launch of G-Gaiter Paediatric marked a significant step forward in physical rehabilitation of children facing gait disabilities resulting from conditions like Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Brain Injuries and Spinal Cord injuries.
“I am sure G-Gaiter Paediatric will bring smile to the faces of children facing mobility issues and to their parents and makes this world a more beautiful place,” Veena George said.
The Minister announced that G Gaiter Paediatric will be installed in Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) hospital, Thiruvananthapuram- one of the ten Centres of Excellence in mother and childcare as recognized by Central Government.
Vimal Govind M K, CEO, Genrobotics, said, “At Genrobotics, our journey began with G-Gaiter for adults. Witnessing its transformative impact, we are extending our innovation to address the needs of children through G-Gaiter Paediatric. Our aim is to revolutionize Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation using technology, ensuring that individuals with gait challenges, regardless of age, can access advanced rehabilitation solutions.”
Statistics show that around 18 million children face mobility issues due to Cerebral Palsy alone. Despite the advancements in rehabilitation, they lack proper quality rehabilitative care in providing gait training to children. The G-Gaiter Paediatric seeks to bridge this gap by equipping hospitals, neuro rehabilitation centres, early intervention and rehabilitation centres with robotic technology driven product for providing a better quality of life to every child facing gait disabilities.
The G-Gaiter Paediatric is integrated with Advanced Virtual Reality (VR) Technology and Real-Time Interactive Games to ensure an engaging and stimulating therapy experience.
The robot comes with Genrobotics’ patented GPLOT Exoskeleton Technology enabling children to develop natural gait patterns through precise and advanced robotic gait therapy.
It also operates on Intelligent therapy Mode, assisting the children in Motor Pattern Relearning, Improving Muscle Coordination, and Enhancing Functional Mobility, for an efficient gait pattern according to the needs of the patient.
The paediatric-friendly design ensures the comfort and accessibility for children, thereby providing a better user experience as a whole.
Afsal Muttikkal, Regional Director of Genrobotics, said G-Gaiter Paediatric represents a breakthrough in Indian rehabilitation technology, specifically designed to address mobility challenges in children. By integrating cutting-edge technology, Genrobotics aims to build the next generation of PM&R – PM&R 2.0, and make robotic rehabilitation more accessible in hospitals and rehabilitation centres, significantly enhancing the quality of rehabilitative care in India, he said.
Genrobotics, recognized as one of the top three GPAI startups 2023 in India by the Ministry of Environment and IT, continues to create innovative Make in India robotic solutions for those facing gait disabilities.
With the launch of its latest innovation, G-Gaiter Paediatric, the company aims to make robotic rehabilitation accessible to all while advancing its mission of building PM&R 2.0 through advanced robotic technologies.
