Gaur of the Match – Laxmikant Kattimani

FC Goa’s hopes of booking a spot in the semi-finals of the third season of the Hero Indian Super League were severely dented as Atletico de Kolkata scored a late winner through Stephen Pearson.
Even though the Gaurs got back into the game late in the second half through a superb Mandar Rao Dessai strike, it wasn’t enough. With the win, Kolkata look on course to make it through to the semi- finals.
But despite all the action all around, it was Laxmikant Kattimani who put his hand up once again and
came to the rescue of his side time and again during the course of the contest. With the match in the balance in the first half, he made a superb stop to deny Javi Lara early on. His confidence continued to grow from there and he further denied the visiting team the opening goal on various occasions.
He commanded the box incredibly well and reacted well to keep the opposition forwards at bay. Despite Atletico de Kolkata scoring two goals, Kattimani was by far, the best player on the pitch for the Gaurs for the third time this season.
