Fr Jose Alex Alex Receives Life Time Achievement Award in Social Work

Father Jose Alex Alex Oruthayappilly,  Director of Rajagiri Group of Institutions received the Life Time Achievement Award in Social Work instituted by National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI).
Fr. Jose Alex received the award from Prof.S. Parasuraman, Director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in the 5th Indian Social Work Congress being  held at  Sree Sankara Univeristy of Sanskrit, Kalady.
Fr. Jose Alex Oruthayappilly, director of Rajagiri group of educational institution and Rajagiri hospital is a Post Graduate in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. For the past four decades Fr.Alex had an active presence in the educational and social work spheres of Kerala. He was
the Principal of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences for 13 years (1st April 1984 to 31st March 1997). He also served as a member of the Academic Committee of the Mahatma Gandhi University during his tenure in the University Syndicate.
A farsighted visionary, in 1984 Fr. Alex was instrumental in delinking the specialization of Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from MSW programme, and offering the course as a full-fledged two year post graduate management programme, M.A (PM&IR) as per the recommendations of the
University Grants Commission (UGC). His other major contributions include the spinning off the Rajagiri School of Management and the commencement of Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology and Rajagiri Business School in the Rajagiri Valley Campus. In 2011, he was elected the Provincial of the Sacred Heart Province, a post he had held for six years during an earlier period. He also guided 12 research scholars for their Ph.D. work in the area of Social Work.
