THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Election to the Kerala State Sports Council will be completed on April 8, 2019.
The elections are being held in accordance with the amendment made to the Kerala Sports Act 2000 (Act 2 of 2001) by Act 37 of 2018, as per which all the state councils are to be reconstituted through the process of election.
The process of election, which commenced from December 7, 2018, will be completed on April 8, 2019. As of now, elections to district sports councils have been completed.
As per the schedule for the State Sports Council, the final voters’ list will be published on March 5 and the nominations will be received by the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, in his capacity as the State Returning Officer, from March 6 to 11.
The list of valid nominations will be published, after scrutiny, on March 11. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is on March 14, and the final list of candidates will be published at 5 pm the same day.
The ballot papers will be despatched to the voters on March 15. The ballots should be returned, after exercising their franchise, to the State Returning Officer by 2 pm on March 25. The counting will take place the on same day, followed by declaration of results.
The draft voters list for the State Sports Council Election was published on February 22. Meanwhile, the notification for the process of election of the State Sports Council Vice President will be notified on March 6, 2019.
