KOCHI:
Global trade enabler, DP World, has initiated the construction of 50 houses for the rehabilitation of families who lost their homes during the floods, under the state government’s ‘Rebuild Kerala’ scheme.
A stone laying ceremony to inaugurate the second phase of this project was held at Kadamakudi Panchayat on 26 th
February, 2018 at 8 AM. The project was inaugurated by Minister for Ports, Kadannappilly Ramachandran in the presence of local MLA, S. Sarma, Vypin constituency.
The first phase of this activity was inaugurated in North Paravoor on 9 th February, 2019 by Minister for Local Self-Government, A.C. Moideen. DP World is working in collaboration with Ernakulam Social Service Society (ESS), an NGO working under Archbishop Verapoly (Verapoly diocese) and Habitat for Humanity India, a non- profit organisation building strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing and sanitation facilities. The objective of engaging 2 implementing partners is to expedite the construction process by distributing the work load so that the project can be completed before the next monsoon.
