Though Kerala maintain leading position in public health, almost equal to that of developed countries, number of death because of Heart Attack is on the rise at an alarm in rate. It has been identified the lack of primary care is a reason for the increasing number of death.
Number of causalities can be brought down by giving cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the person suffering the heart attack. CIAL Convention Centre, Nedumbassery , will play host to “Heart Beats 2019”, a training Programme on November 16 which aims for a Guinness Record, by giving on the spot training to 35,000 students from class 9 to 12 from 250 schools in Ernakulam district in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR).
The event is jointly organized by Angels International Foundation, IMA Kochi and Ernakulam District Administration and aims at enabling next generation in providing primary care during emergency situations.
CPR is an emergency procedure that combines chest compression with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who faces cardiac arrest. Announcing the event, district collector S. Suhas said the programme will begin at 8 am and will last till 6 pm. The project is also supported by Department of public Instruction.
Care and Share Foundation led by actor Padmashree Mammootty, National Health Mission, Ernakulam General Hospital, District Legal Service Authority, BPCL, Fragomen, Jai Bharath Education Foundation, Al- Ameen Education Foundation, Muthoot M George Group are also part of Heart Beats 219.
