Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Ernakulam has issued notice, on the basis of a complaint preferred by Eastern Condiments (P) Ltd.
Eastern had brought to the notice of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ernakulam that a defamatory video, wherein Eastern food product being portrayed as containing stale food matter was being circulated. The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Ernakulam, on the basis of the complaint and the statement given by the complainant has observed that there is a prima facie case against the accused, for offence punishable u/S 500 of the IPC and has issued notice.
Navas Meeran, Chairman Eastern Condiments said that all Eastern products are natural and steps are taken to ensure that high quality is maintained during procurement, transportation, processing, manufacturing and distribution. Eastern Group has been the largest spice exporter in the country for the most number of
years, and is a diversified group with interests in multiple sectors including construction, mattresses, tyre retreading and education. Navas Meeran has requested that false propaganda be not shared, and distributed.
