Coir Board bagged the 1st Prize among the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. of India for the exemplanary performance during the Swachhta Pakhwada period of the Ministry of MSME from 16th to 30th June, 2018, among the other Organisations under the Ministry of MSME.
The Ministry of MSME and its Sub ordinate Offices were observing a Swachhta Pakhwada (Swachhta Fortnight) from 16th to 30th June, 2018. Coir Board under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India, contributes significantly to the Swachh Bharat Ahhiyan activities of the Central Government. The Board has been implementing various Swachhta activities as per the Action Plan approved by the Ministry of MSME. For the current year ,the Board has set apart an outlay of Rs.1.00 Crore for implementation of various swachhta activities.
Under the dynamic leadership of C. P. Radhakrishnan Ex. M. P, Chairman, Coir BoardDuring the period the Board has carried out a large number of activities, including Beach cleaning and Coir exhibition at the beach at Puri, Odisha, Adoption of Kempusagara Village for cleanling and maintenance of existing sanitation infrastructure in Karnataka, Maintenance of five public toilets at Kochi in Kerala (Vathuruthy area) in collaboration with the Corporation of Cochin in Kerala, Maintenance of five toilets in Municipal Middle School, Devangapuram. Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.
De-weeding in local water ways in association with local municipality at Alleppey. Kerala, maintenance of Prabhu Ghat at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, etc. were undertaken during this period by the Board under the aegis of its Head Office at Kochi and different Sub Offices of the Board all over the Country. Among the Swachhta Awards of the Ministry of MSME, the Head Office of the Board at Ernakulam. Kochi. Regional Offices at Kalavoor and Bhubaneswar bagged l st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes respectively. Diwakar Sharma. Showroom Manager Gr-III and K.A.Baby, Regional Officer, Bhubaneswar received the 2nd & 3rd prizes for the Coir Board Offices.
