In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, where companies are no longer undertaking on ground events for their brand awareness or activations. Club FM, Kerala’s No 1 radio station undertook the initiative to conduct first of its kind online Bharatanatyam dance competition’‘Mathrubhumi Nadanam Shobanam’ for its listeners and supporters. The event’s logo was unveiled by heart throb young Gen molly wood actor ‘Dulquer Salman’ . The famous dancer and actress Shobana was the brand ambassador of the competition.
The dance competition was divided in 2 main categories as per age group of 16-23 yrs., 24-32yrs, and invited dancers across India to recreate a dance performance from Shobana’s reels in her Instagram account @shobana_danseuse. The event received over 1000 entries out of which only 65 entries were shortlisted by the actress.
The shortlisted contestants were also given the opportunity to interact with Shobana through a virtual zoom workshop where she gave first hand expertise on Bharatanatyam dance forms through a short performance. The contestants were also given separate cash prizes for each age group consisting of a sum of Rs 25,000 each for winners and Rs 15,000 each for runners up, in addition, the winners & finalists will be given an opportunity to perform in a video with shobana which is yet to be finalized.
