CBSE’s Best Teacher Award for Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya Principal

KOCHI:
Usha K, Principal, Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara was honored by CBSE with National Level Best Teacher Award-2015. She received the award from Upendra Kushwaha, Union Minister of State for HRD on 03 Sep 2016 at a function held at Delhi. Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya is a school sponsored by Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Thrikkakara and run under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
A special function was arranged at the school in which Usha was felicitated by S Kedarnath Shenoy, Outstanding Scientist & Director NPOL. Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, E Ramankutty, Director, Bhavans’ Kochi Kendra, V.S.Shenoy, Chairman, School Management Council and Sudha Namboothiri, PTA President were present.
Usha K received the award in consistently maintaining very good academic results in the board examinations, been the resource person and trainer for number of capacity building programs for teachers and principals of various schools. She was also a recipient of National Sanitation Awards and CBSE Sports Promotion Award 2013. During her period, her students were actively involved in activities like environmental conservation, road safety, health and wellness programmes and also in literacy and cultural ev
ents. Her motto is “No Child to be Left Behind”. Under her leadership, the school has adopted a number of villages and initiated numerous innovative programmes to help and support disadvantaged.
