KOZHIKODE:
The 12 th edition of Calicut Half Marathon organised yearly by IIM Kozhikode has now been postponed to 9 th – 11 th April 2021 due to unavoidable circumstances.
Earlier, the virtual event was scheduled for 19 th – 21 st March 2021. IIM Kozhikode is also all set to honour cricketer Robin Uthappa with IIMK’s ‘National Excellence Award’ to mark the 12 th edition of the Marathon, which is going completely virtual for the first time.
The National Excellence award is a replica of IIM Kozhikode’s inspirational mnemonic – the ‘Arise Arjuna’ statue. “The Walking Assassin” Robin Uthappa has been chosen as the recipient of this award for his contribution to Indian Cricket. He has carried his team forward by demonstrating resilience, focus and determination, which resonates with the legend of Arjuna.
The award was instituted 2 years back, the first recipient being Dr Deepa Malik, Arjuna Award winner, who has won 58 national and 23 international medals in various disciplines in addition to being the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Paralympic Games. The second recipient being another Arjuna Awardee Babita Kumari Phogat, who won the Silver medals at 2018 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2012 World Wrestling Championships.
IIM Kozhikode Calicut Half Marathon in its twelfth edition will work towards upholding the efforts initiated during the past editions of the marathon and will promote physical and mental fitness, bringing people together to create a healthy environment for a better tomorrow.
