  • BJP Hits Out At Kerala CM Over Blaming RSS For Kannur Violence

By NE Reporter on October 20, 2016

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
BJP in Kerala hit out at the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for blaming the RSS for the violence in Kannur and doubted his “call for peace initiative”.
BJP state chief Kummanom Rajasekharan said it was unfortunate that Vijayan used the state Assembly to attack RSS for the Kannur violence and give a clean chit to CPM. Slamming the CPM, he said after the LDFkummanam government came to power in May, 250 incidents of violence took place and CPM workers were accused in 80 per cent of them.
CPM attacked 31 houses in two stages at Pinarayi itself, the homeland of Chief Minister, after this government came to power, he alleged.
Rajasekharan said police remain mere spectators to the violence in Kannur. “Police in Kannur had openly stated that they were helpless and CPM cadres were even threatening them (police personnel),” he said.
“The Chief Minister who knows everything that happens in Kannur is now blaming RSS for the violence. This triggers suspicion whether he was serious in bringing peace to the area,” he said.
Referring to the statement of CPM Kannur District Secretary that the party in Kannur did not have the “habit of suffering everything with folded hands,” Rajasekharan said, “When the Chief Minister was calling for peace, his party leader was encouraging violence.”
Rejecting Vijayan’s charge that BJP did not co-opera
te in peace talks, he said it was CPM who refused to budge.
“It was CPM leaders who rejected with contempt the peace talk proposal made by RSS chief”, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, senior CPM leader P Jayarajan today said, it was not right to equate CPM with RSS and said “the party ignore those who weigh both CPM and RSS in the same weighing balance”.
“There will be permanent peace in Kannur if RSS decides,” he told reporters.
RSS leaders from outside the district were also involved in the violence, he said, adding police should apprehend them by charging offences of conspiracy. He alleged that some BJP leaders were behind the murder of CPM local committee member Mohanan in the district earlier this month.
He also criticised CPI state secretary Kannam Rajendran’s statement that CPM should not fall in the trap of RSS that law and order situation has collapsed in the state.
