The 155th edition of the Kochi Biennale Foundation’s weekly ‘Arts and Medicine’ show at the Governm
Aparna’s impeccable rendition of a dozen beautiful melodies, evoking nostalgia and warmth, won huge applause from the gathered audience of patients, staff and bystanders at the hospital.
She began the performance with the evergreen ‘Oruvattom Koodiyen Ormakal Meyunna’ from Chillu (1982) in memory of ONV, who passed away on February 13 last year at the age of 84.
Aparna then moved on to ‘Mazhavil Kodi’ and a string of duets singer Yahiya Azeez including ‘Mele Poomala-Thazhe Thenala’, ‘Onnanam Kunninmel koodu kootum’, ‘Thannanan Thaannannam Thaalathil’. The hour long show concluded with the refreshing number, ‘Manjal Prasadavum’.
Aparna is the proud recipient of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award of 2016 and the Film Critic Award in 2009. She did her first Ghazal concert at the Soorya Festival last year.
“Right from childhood I realized what my passion in life was and I have been pursing music since then. My grandfather has been an inspiration for me and will ever be, when it comes to singing,” said Aparna.
“The idea of offering solace to patients through therapeutic music is a generous gesture and KBF has come a long way in accomplishing its motive,” she added.

d in an attempt to provide solace to patients through art and music.
