Aster Medcity Introduces Advanced Technology for Prostate Surgeries

Aster Medcity successfully completed the first minimally invasive laser enucleation of the prostate (MiLEP) surgery in India.The 52-year-old Babychan, who is from Pala and settled in America, underwent this innovative surgery and returned home within 48 hours. The surgery was performed by Dr. Sandeep Prabhakaran, Senior Consultant, Program Director, Laser Endourology, Aster Medcity.

“This surgery is useful in very young patients with prosthetic gland swelling. We are happy to complete the first surgery in India through MiLEP”, said Dr. Sandeep Prabhakaran, Senior Consultant, Program Director, Laser Endourology, Aster Medcity.

MiLEP is an innovative laser surgery performed with the help of very small endoscopic instruments. Use of smaller endoscopic instruments minimizes injuries to the urethra and bladder. Congenital under diameter of the urethra is a barrier to laser prostate surgery in many patients. In such patients, the surgery can be performed very safely and without complications.
